the leaders of the people
on Nehemiah 10:14-27
The lay heads of families close the roll, the family names that head the register of the first return in Ezra 2 and Nehemiah 7. The generation that came up under Zerubbabel and the generation that seals the covenant under Nehemiah are the same houses, the old remnant still standing.
This site's exposition
Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah
Anaiah stood at Ezra's right hand on the wooden platform at 8:4 while the Law was read. Hanan is a name the Levites also carry at verse 10, and a Hanan son of Zaccur assisted the treasurers of the storerooms at 13:13. Names repeat across the orders.
