in Nehemiah 10Moreover, we will bring to the priests at the storerooms of the house of our God the firstfruits of our dough, of our grain offerings, of the fruit of all our trees, and of our new wine and oil. A tenth of our produce belongs to the Levites, so that they shall receive tithes in all the towns where we labor.

4 notes on this verseWhen Israel was first brought into covenant with God it was done by sacrifice and the sprinkling of blood, Exod. xxiv. But here it was done by the more natural and common way of sealing and subscribing the written articles of the covenant, which bound them to no more than was already their duty.

The last ordinance brings "the firstfruits of our dough" to the priests, and "A tenth of our produce" to the Levites in every town. The chapter closes on the vow the covenant was written to keep, "we will not neglect the house of our God," which chapter 13 tests.
