on Jeremiah 36:17-19

The officials ask how the scroll was written. Baruch answers, “He recited all these words to me and I wrote them in ink on the scroll.” Before they go to the king, the officials warn them, “You and Jeremiah must hide yourselves and tell no one where you are.”

You and Jeremiah must hide yourselves

The officials expected the king's anger and moved first to protect the prophet and his scribe. Adam Clarke reads the warning as a sign that they believed the prophecy came from God. Matthew Henry credits their escape to God alone.

Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah - They saw that the king would be displeased, and most probably seek their lives; and as they believed the prophecy was from God, they wished to save both the prophet and his scribe; but they were obliged to inform the king of what they had heard.
