I am restricted; I cannot enter the house of the LORD

on Jeremiah 36:5-8

Jeremiah says, “I am restricted; I cannot enter the house of the LORD,” so the reading falls to Baruch. Gill and Clarke connect the restriction with the hostility after his trial in chapter 26. Verse 8 records that he did everything Jeremiah had commanded him.

The Hebrew for bringing a petition pictures a request that falls before the LORD. Clarke reads it as the people falling down before God, and Barnes says the words carry the hope that the LORD would hear. Jeremiah uses the same words with Zedekiah in 37:20.
