Nebuchadnezzar comes with “all his army, all the earthly kingdoms under his control, and all the other nations,” arrayed against one city. The word is personal: “you yourself will not escape his grasp,” and he will meet Babylon's king “eye to eye” and go to Babylon.

Zedekiah would meet Nebuchadnezzar in person and still never see Babylon. Henry sets this beside Ezekiel 12, which said he would never see that city, and the two were reconciled when his eyes were put out. Adam Clarke notes that he tried to flee and was caught (Jeremiah 39:4; 52:7).
