When Mahalalel was 65 years old

on Genesis 5:15-20

Mahalalel is the fifth from Adam, Jared the sixth, and Enoch the seventh. Jude 14 names Enoch the seventh from Adam when he quotes his prophecy. The seventh from Adam in Cain's line is the other Lamech, who boasts at Genesis 4:23 of a man he killed.

This site's exposition

Jared lived 800 years

By the Hebrew numbers Jared was still alive when God took Enoch away at 365, and he outlived his son by 435 years. The father saw the son taken. Gill read that early removal as a mark of God's favour.

And Jared lived, after he begat Enoch, eight hundred years,.... And so, the Greek version, but the Samaritan is seven hundred and eighty five: and begat sons and daughters; in that time, as well as before; for it is not to be imagined in this, or either of the foregoing or following instances, that these sons and daughters were begotten after living to such an age, since it is plain at that age they died.
