When Arphaxad was 35 years old
on Genesis 11:12-15
The list keeps the shape of Genesis 5 and drops its refrain. Every man in Genesis 5 ended with and then he died, and no death is recorded here. The ages at fatherhood fall, from a hundred and more in Adam's line to 35 for Arphaxad and 30 for Shelah.

Shelah lived 403 years
Shelah lived 433 years in all, and his other sons and daughters leave no further record in Scripture, as John Gill notes. Gill passes on a Jewish chronologer's claim that Shelah died in the fourteenth year of Jacob. Several of these fathers were alive in Abram's day.
