after he had become the father of Seth
on Genesis 5:4-8
Adam reached 930 years, longer than any man before him, and then he died. Seth became the father of Enosh, lived 807 years more, then died. Romans 5:14 stands on these verses, where death reigned from Adam to Moses; the long years change nothing about the ending.
This site's exposition
Seth lived 807 years
Each father had other sons and daughters, all unnamed. Jamieson, Fausset and Brown held that Moses gives only the line from Adam through Seth to Noah, leaving out the firstborn. That would explain fathers who were old at the birth of the named son.

The Church Fathers1 voice
Now notice that when the inspired writer sets forth the length of the lives of the men he mentions, the narrative always ends with the formula "and he begot sons and daughters, and all the time that so and so lived were so many years, and he died." Considering that these sons and daughters are not named and remembering how long people lived in that first period of our history, can anyone refuse to believe that so great a multitude of men was born as to have been able, in groups, to build a great number of cities?
The Medieval Church1 voice
It should be noted that where our Codices, translated from the Hebrew source, say Adam lived for one hundred and thirty years and begot Seth, the ancient translation has, instead of one hundred and thirty, two hundred and thirty; where our Codices continue, "And the …
The Puritans and the Awakening1 voice
And Seth lived, after he begat Enos, eight hundred and seven years,.... The Septuagint version makes the same mistake in the numbers of Seth as of Adam, giving him two hundred and five years before the birth of Enos, and but seven hundred and seven years after: and begat sons and daughters; very probably both before and after Enos was born; but how many is not said.
