4 notes on this verseThe he-goats that were ring-streaked - התישים העקדים hatteyashim haakuddim, the he-goats that had rings of black or other colored hair around their feet or legs. It is extremely difficult to find out, from Gen 30:32 and Gen 30:35, in what the bargain of Jacob with his father-in-law properly consisted. It appears from Gen 30:32, that Jacob was to have for his wages all the speckled, spotted, and brown among the sheep and the goats; and of course that all those which were not party-colored should be considered as the property of Laban.

Laban agrees at once, and Wesley reads the speed as a man who thinks the deal favours him. That same day Laban removes every streaked, speckled and spotted animal and every dark-colored lamb. He puts them under the care of his sons. Three days of travel are set between the two flocks.

Adam Clarke explains streaked as goats with rings of dark hair around the feet or legs. Laban sorts out every marked animal that same day. His sons take the marked stock away, so none of it counts toward Jacob.
