The summary gives a reign of twenty-five years. Verse 33 adds, “The high places, however, were not removed”, though 17:6 says he removed them. Verse 33 gives its own reason: “the people had not yet set their hearts on the God of their fathers”.

The verdict ties Jehoshaphat to his father Asa, whose reign Chronicles also judged right in the eyes of the LORD at 14:2. Matthew Henry gives the same summary of the reign: Jehoshaphat held to the worship of God himself and worked to hold his people to it.
