Jerahmeel's branch runs in bare names, and the notice that a son died without children marks a line that goes no further. It ends in Sheshan, and Sheshan had no sons, but only daughters. Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to his servant Jarha, an Egyptian, and she bore Attai.

Shallum is one of the most common names in the Old Testament, carried by a king of Israel in 2 Kings 15:10 and several Levites. Sismai appears only here. The line has now run eleven generations from Attai.
