Jehoiada, the leader of the Aaronites--not the high priest, for that was Abiathar (1Sa 23:9), but the leader of the Aaronite warriors, supposed to be the father of Benaiah (1Ch 11:22).

The second list begins at Hebron, numbering the men armed for battle who came to turn Saul’s kingdom over to him. Judah sends 6,800 and Levi 4,600, and Jehoiada brings 3,700 more. Clarke identifies this Jehoiada as the father of Benaiah, a different man from Abiathar the high priest.
