who came to David at Hebron
on 1 Chronicles 12:23-27
The second list begins at Hebron, numbering the men armed for battle who came to turn Saul’s kingdom over to him. Judah sends 6,800 and Levi 4,600, and Jehoiada brings 3,700 more. Clarke identifies this Jehoiada as the father of Benaiah, a different man from Abiathar the high priest.

Numbers 1:47 to 49 kept Levi out of Israel's military census. Here Levites come armed to make David king. The next two verses name their leaders, Jehoiada and Zadok, from the priestly house of Aaron.
