Ahiezer their chief and Joash
on 1 Chronicles 12:3-7
The roster opens with Ahiezer their chief and Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite, from Gibeah, Saul's city. Jehu the Anathothite came from Anathoth, the town that later gave Judah the prophet Jeremiah. The name Jeremiah recurs three times in this chapter's lists, at verses 4, 10 and 13.

Eluzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah
Bealiah joins baal, meaning lord or master, to a short form of the divine name, and so means the LORD is master. Hosea 2:16 later has Israel stop calling God by that word. Haruphite appears only here in this form.
