Ahiezer their chief and Joash
on 1 Chronicles 12:3-7
The roster opens with Ahiezer their chief and Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite, from Gibeah, Saul's city. Jehu the Anathothite came from Anathoth, the town that later gave Judah the prophet Jeremiah. The name Jeremiah recurs three times in this chapter's lists, at verses 4, 10 and 13.

Joelah and Zebadiah, the sons
Gedor names a town in the hill country of Judah (Joshua 15:58), and a man named Gedor stands in Benjamin's genealogy at 1 Chronicles 8:31. Either may lie behind this Gedor. Jeroham's two sons close the first list of Ziklag men.
