The sons of Judah were Er and Onan
on Numbers 26:19-22
Judah's roll names Er and Onan only to say "they died in the land of Canaan". The roll goes on to Perez, whose line Ruth 4:18-22 carries down to David and Matthew 1:3 to Christ.

Three sons of Judah head clans here, Shelah, Perez and Zerah. Matthew Henry counts five families in Judah, since two sons of Perez head clans of their own in the next verse. Each of the five would hold its own share when Judah's ground was divided.
