on Exodus 16:31-32
The house of Israel keeps its own question as the name of the food, which the people had already used of it at verse 15. The description is domestic, like coriander seed, white, with the taste of wafers made with honey, and Numbers 11:7 and 11:8 describe it again as the colour of bdellium tasting of fresh oil, by which point the people are tired of it. An omer of it is to be filled and kept so that a later generation can see the bread rather than be told about it.

Keep an omer of manna for the generations to come
The words for the generations to come were said three times of the Passover in chapter 12, and here they attach the same memory to a jar of food. Psalm 78:25 calls it the bread of angels. Origen of Alexandria read that food as the Word coming down from heaven to those who have left Egypt.
