the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz
on 2 Kings 13:8-9
The regnal formula closes Jehoahaz's reign the way it closes every northern king's, a reference to a chronicle no longer extant and a burial notice, and the text spends no more ink on a king who prayed once and reformed nothing. Joash his son succeeds him, the deliverer promised at verse 5 not yet named but already on the throne. The pattern holds across the whole book: mercy is granted, and the throne passes on unchanged.
