on 2 Chronicles 9:22-25
Solomon “surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom,” and the kings of the earth seek an audience. Kings tells the same scene at 1 Kings 10:23-25. Verse 25 counts “4,000 stalls for horses and chariots” and 12,000 horses.

Year by year the kings of verse 23 brought gifts. Henry says they came because they coveted Solomon's friendship, and he reads Solomon here as a type of Christ. The wise men of the east brought gold, frankincense and myrrh to Christ as soon as he was born.
