Uzziah had an army ready for battle
on 2 Chronicles 26:11-15
Chronicles alone gives the army's order: Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer keep the muster under Hananiah, 2,600 family leaders over 307,500 men. Uzziah arms them and sets devices on the towers “to shoot arrows and catapult large stones”, which commentators compare to the Roman ballista and catapult.

The army is raised by fathers' houses, so each of the 2,600 leaders commands men of his own clan. That works out to about one leader for every 118 soldiers. Amaziah had mustered Judah the same way at 25:5.

an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands--He raised a strong body of militia, divided into companies or regiments of uniform size, which served in rotation. The enumeration was performed by two functionaries expert in the drawing up of military muster-rolls, under the superintendence of Hananiah, one of the high officers of the crown.
