They lived in Beersheba

on 1 Chronicles 4:28-33

Simeon's inheritance is listed as cities, matching Joshua 19, where the tribe's portion lay within Judah's allotment because Judah's share was too large. The note, These were their cities until the reign of David, marks the date of the Chronicler's source. Some of the towns changed hands in David's lifetime.

The Simeonites kept their own register, the source of the leaders named in verses 34 to 37. Baal is likely Baalath-beer of Joshua 19:8, the southern limit of their villages. Verse 41 dates the men of this register to Hezekiah.
