The descendants of Simeon
on 1 Chronicles 4:24-27
Shimei had sixteen sons, but his brothers did not have many children, so their clan did not become as numerous as the sons of Judah. Wesley ties the decline to Jacob's words over Simeon in Genesis 49:7: I will disperse them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel.

Simeon's line is followed through Shaul, the son named last in verse 24. Genesis 46:10 calls Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman. Mibsam and Mishma share their names with two sons of Ishmael in 1:29.
