Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah. The list traces both households. Koz, a son of Helah, is named in verse 8, just before the account of Jabez in verse 9.

Naarah's four sons are listed before Helah's, though verse 5 names Helah first. The names mark families of Tekoa, the town Ashhur founded or ruled in 2:24. Nothing else is recorded of them.
