The descendants of Simeon
on 1 Chronicles 4:24-27
Shimei had sixteen sons, but his brothers did not have many children, so their clan did not become as numerous as the sons of Judah. Wesley ties the decline to Jacob's words over Simeon in Genesis 49:7: I will disperse them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel.

Mishma's three sons lead to Shimei, whose large family is the subject of the next verse. Hammuel is named only here. The list narrows from Shaul to the one household in Simeon that grew.
