“Again and again I have sent you all My servants the prophets” widens the charge from Jeremiah's own ministry to the whole prophetic line. Verse 17 gives the reason for the coming disaster in the LORD's words: “because I have spoken to them but they have not obeyed.”

The sons of Jonadab obeyed the command of their forefather, while the people of Judah refused to listen to the LORD. Barnes sets one forefather beside all the prophets the LORD had sent again and again. Henry says the Rechabites would rise in judgment against Judah.
