on Ezekiel 28:20-24
The oracle turns last to Zidon, Tyre's older sister city. Verse 24 gives Israel's stake, there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn. Henry and Gill read the brier and thorn as the same figure Moses had used at Numbers 33:55.

The verb glorified is used at the Red Sea, where God said He would gain glory through Pharaoh and his army in Exodus 14. Sidon becomes a second stage for the same display. Holiness here means God shown to be set apart in His justice.

I am against thee, O Zidon - Sidon for a long time had possessed the empire of the sea and of all Phoenicia, and Tyre was one of its colonies; but in process of time, the daughter became greater than the mother. It seems to have been an independent place at the time in which Tyre was taken; but it is likely that it was taken by the Chaldeans soon after the former.
