on 1 Kings 14:10-11
The sentence is total: “I will burn up the house of Jeroboam as one burns up dung until it is gone”. Verse 11 begins a formula this book repeats over doomed houses, against Baasha's at 16:4 and Ahab's at 21:19-24. Baasha fulfills it in chapter 15.

Albert Barnes notes that dogs cleared the streets of the city and vultures, the birds of the air, cleared the open field. John Gill reads the sentence as no burial at all for anyone belonging to Jeroboam. For an Israelite that was the worst of ends.

The dogs are the chief scavengers of Oriental cities (compare Psa 59:6, Psa 59:14). And the vulture is the chief scavenger in the country districts, assisted sometimes by kites and crows (see Job 39:27-30, where the vulture, not the eagle, is intended). Vultures are very abundant in Palestine.
