5 notes on this verse(Chapter 19, Verse 14) And he spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters. For afterward, it is said that the two daughters of Lot were virgins (about whom he himself had said long ago to the Sodomites: Behold, my two daughters, who have not known man), and now the Scripture mentions that he had sons-in-law; some think that those who had husbands remained in Sodom, and the ones who were virgins left with their father.

The angels ask for sons, daughters, sons-in-law and anyone who belongs to him. Lot spoke to the sons-in-law and they thought he was joking. The Hebrew behind that joking is built on the root that gives Isaac his name, and Sarah laughed on the same root one chapter earlier.

John Gill puts this errand about midnight. He records Aben Ezra and Jarchi, who held that Lot had two other daughters already married in the city who perished. The words pledged in marriage point instead to the two daughters at home, still to be married.

From his house, after the men of Sodom were gone from it, and before the morning, very probably about midnight: and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters: according to Aben Ezra, he had two other daughters that perished in Sodom, which he gathers from Gen 19:15, "which are here", as if he had some elsewhere; and so Jarchi says, he had two daughters married in the city.
Those who lived a merry life, and made a jest of everything, made a jest of this warning, and so they perished in the overthrow. Thus many who are warned of the misery and danger they are in by sin make a light matter of it, and think their ministers do but jest with them; such will perish with their blood upon their own heads.
