on Genesis 18:30-32
Thirty, then twenty, then ten, and God agrees at every number. Abraham sets each number himself. Jerome notes that the Hebrew of the last plea is plainer than the Greek, a straight request that the Lord not be angry at the speaking. Wesley asked why Abraham stopped at ten, and the text leaves it open.
