Of Shaalboa or Shaaiabin, a city in the tribe of Dan, Jos 19:42; perhaps the Silbonitis of Josephus (p): of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan; in 1Ch 11:34, it is, the sons of Hashem the Gizonite: sons are spoken of, though but one, as in Gen 46:23. The Thirty are given by name and town, and the roll opens with Asahel, dead since Abner killed him at 2:23. At verse 34 stands “Eliam son of Ahithophel the Gilonite”, and since 11:3 calls Bathsheba the daughter of Eliam, some make Ahithophel her grandfather.

Eliahba the Shaalbonite came from Shaalbon in the tribe of Dan. The parallel at 1 Chronicles 11:34 reads the sons of Hashem the Gizonite. John Gill explains that the sons of Jashen can name a single man, as the sons of Dan at Genesis 46:23 name only Hushim.
