After ten days the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah
on Jeremiah 42:7-12
The answer comes in the verbs of 1:10. “I will build you up and not tear you down; I will plant you and not uproot you.” The LORD says, “I will relent of the disaster I have brought upon you,” and tells them not to fear the king of Babylon.

Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon
The king of Babylon is the fear of 41:18, whom they feared would avenge Gedaliah. The LORD answers with his presence. Matthew Henry hears in these verses the promise of a people planted again in the land, a kingdom rising from the ashes of the last.
