3 notes on this verseon Jeremiah 27:16-17
(Verse 16, 17.) And I spoke to the priests and to this people, saying: thus says the Lord: Do not listen to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you, saying: Behold, the vessels of the Lord will return from Babylon now quickly: for they are prophesying lies to you. This, which we have now set, in the Septuagint is not present: and that which follows, Do not listen to them, but serve the king of Babylon, so that you may live. Why is this city being laid waste?

shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon
on Jeremiah 27:16-18
The priests and people are told the vessels of the Lord's house will not shortly be brought again from Babylon, contradicting whatever comfort was circulating among them, and Jeremiah offers a test rather than an argument: if these are true prophets, let them intercede that the vessels still left in Jerusalem not also go to Babylon. The proposed proof reverses the false prophets' own claim, asking them to pray to keep what remains rather than promise the return of what is already gone, a request the text never records them attempting.

The vessels of the Lord’s house - Which had been carried away by Nebuchadnezzar under the reigns of Jehoiakim and Jeconiah, 2Ch 36:7-10. Shall now shortly be brought again - This is a lie. They shall not be restored till I bring them up, Jer 27:22, which was after the captivity, when they were sent back by Cyrus, the Lord inclining his heart to do it, Ezr 1:7, and Ezr 7:19.
