on Genesis 38:19-20

Tamar removes the veil and puts her widow's garments back on, and the evidence stays in her keeping. Judah sends Hirah with the young goat to collect the pledge, and Hirah cannot find her. The seal, the cord and the staff are hers now.

Judah sends the payment by a friend and keeps out of sight himself. The price is a young goat, the animal whose blood he and his brothers put on Joseph's robe at Genesis 37:31. Now Judah is the one deceived.
