The Horite chiefs carry the title Esau's chiefs carry, so two sets of chiefs hold one country at once. Gill notes that the Horite chiefs ruled together, and the kings named next ruled one at a time. Lamentations 4:21 puts the daughter of Edom in the land of Uz.

1 Chronicles 1:42 gives Akan as Jaakan. Numbers 33:31 names a camp of Israel's wilderness march Bene-jaakan, the sons of Jaakan. Deuteronomy 10:6 sets it beside Moserah, where Aaron died.
