the sons of Seir the Horite, who were living in the land
on Genesis 36:20-23
Genesis lists the Horites who held Seir before Esau reached it, and gives them the care it gives the covenant family. They are first named at Genesis 14:6, among the peoples Chedorlaomer struck. Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon and Anah head the list, and Dishon, Ezer and Dishan close it.

Hori, Lotan's son, carries the name of the whole people, the Horites. 1 Chronicles 1:39 gives Hemam as Homam. Timna's name returns at verse 40 as the first of the chiefs of Edom's regions.

And Timna was the concubine of Eliphaz, the firstborn son of Esau, and from her was born Amalek. Now it is worth noting that the Horites, because the firstborn sons of Esau took their concubines as wives. And as for the names that are mentioned, Teman and Kenaz and Amalek, and so on: we will learn later the regions of the Edomites from which these names were derived.
