Counterpoint: The passage as a whole is widely accepted as genuine, but a minority of scholars â€” Tessa Rajak, and more recently Richard Carrier â€” argue that the phrase "who was called Christ" was added by a copyist. If they are right, Josephus named a James here without connecting him to Jesus.
