Both trumpets blown together bring the whole nation to the door of the tent, and one trumpet brings the princes only. The signal carries its own address, so a man knows from the sound whether he is called.

One trumpet calls only the leaders, the heads of the clans, and Jamieson, Fausset and Brown say they met to consult on public affairs. Matthew Henry reasons that a lesser signal suited the men who ought to lead the way in every good thing. The leaders answer to less.
