For all people well walk, every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God - Hitherto unsteadfastness had been the very characteristic sin of Israel. It was , “constant only in its inconstancy,” ever “falling away like their forefathers, starting aside like a broken bow” Psa 78:57. The pagan persevered in their worship, because it was evil or had evil in it, not checking but feeding their passions.

we will walk in the name of the Lord our God
Against the picture of every nation walking after its own god, Israel answers with its own resolve, to walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever. The verse reads as the congregation's own response inserted into the oracle, a pledge of covenant loyalty spoken back to the vision just given rather than a further promise from the Lord. The older writers take it as the fitting reply of a people who have just heard what the nations will one day do, choosing now what the world will choose only in that day.

They who are eager to go up into the mountain of the Lord and wish to learn thoroughly his ways promise a ready obedience, and they receive in themselves the glories of the life in Christ and undertake with their whole strength to be earnest in all holiness.

Note, Peace is a blessing indeed when it strengthens our resolutions to cleave to the Lord. How constant other nations were to their gods: All people will walk every one in the name of his god, will own their god and cleave to him, will worship their god and serve him, will depend upon him and put confidence in him.

So the Hebrew particle means in the Margin, Ge 8:21; The resolution of the exile Jews is: As Jehovah gives us hope of so glorious a restoration, notwithstanding the overthrow of our temple and nation, we must in confident reliance on His promise persevere in the true worship of Him, however the nations around, our superiors now in strength and numbers, walk after their gods [ROSENMULLER].
Every one in the name of his god - This shall be the state of the Gentile world; but after the captivity, the Jews walked in the name of Jehovah alone; and acknowledge no other object of religious worship to the present day.
