On this verse

"his spirit is bound up in their wings, and they shall be confounded because of their sacrifices." LXX: "a whirlwind of spirit will whistle in his wings, and they will be confounded from their altars." The unhappy people received the worship of idols, whose unclean spirits bound Israel in their wings and do not allow it to fly freely. Therefore they shall be confounded in their sacrifices, and they shall receive disgrace for their confusion.

The wind hath bound her up in her wings - When God brought Israel out of Egypt, He bare them on eagles wings, and brought them unto Himself Exo 19:4; Deu 32:11. Now they had abandoned God, and God abandoned them as chaff to the wind. The certainty of Israels doom is denoted by its being spoken of in the past. It was certain in the divine judgment. Sudden, resistless, irreversible are Gods judgments, when they come.
