on Exodus 37:6-9

The cherubim are hammered from the same piece of gold as the mercy seat, and they look at the place where blood is put. The Septuagint renders mercy seat as hilasterion, the word Romans 3:25 uses of Christ.

The two cherubim carry out 25:18, one at each end of the mercy seat. Jamieson, Fausset and Brown note that few craftsmen of their day could have hammered a figure with wings that size from one piece of gold. Moses credits the skill to the Spirit of God at 35:31.
