on Exodus 37:3-5
Exodus 25:15 ordered that the poles must not be removed, so the ark stays fitted for shoulders even at rest. At 2 Samuel 6:3 it rides on a new cart instead, and Uzzah dies.

The poles carry out 25:13 and stayed with the ark into Solomon's temple. By 1 Kings 8:8 their ends could be seen from the Holy Place in front of the inner sanctuary.
