on 2 Kings 1:17-18
Ahaziah dies “according to the word of the LORD that Elijah had spoken”, and Jehoram succeeds him and Ahab's line keeps the throne in Samaria. The verse dates this to the second year of another Jehoram, son of Jehoshaphat, over Judah, so two kings of one name reign at once.

This chapter keeps three acts of Ahaziah's reign: his fall, his inquiry at Ekron and his death. Ephrem the Syrian traced the passing of his crown to his brother Jehoram to the custom of Israel's neighbours. The rest went to the royal chronicle.
