As surely as the LORD lives
on 1 Kings 17:1-2
Elijah enters with no genealogy. He is only “the Tishbite”, and his oath names the God “before whom I stand”. Kings dates the word of rain to the third year at 18:1, while Luke 4:25 and James 5:17 both give “three and a half years”.

This word comes right after Elijah stands before Ahab at verse 1, and it sends him into hiding at once. Obadiah reports at 18:10 that Ahab searched every nation and kingdom for him. The LORD hid His prophet first.
