Who, with those next mentioned: Shehariah, Athaliah, Jaresiah, Eliah, and Zichri, were the sons of Jeroham, who perhaps is the same with Jerimoth, another son of Elpaal, 1Ch 8:14 who makes a considerable figure in this genealogy. Kimchi observes that it is a tradition (q) that this Eliah is Elijah the prophet, who was of the seed of Rachel. (q) Shemoth Rabba, sect. 40. fol. 138. 4.

on 1 Chronicles 8:13-27
Beriah and Shema were the heads of families of the inhabitants of Aijalon, and they drove out the inhabitants of Gath. Gill links this to the killing of Ephraim's sons by the natives of Gath in 1 Chronicles 7:21. The roll runs through the sons of Elpaal, Shimei and Shashak.

Gill suggests that Jeroham, whose sons these are, is the Jeremoth of verse 14. Athaliah here is a man's name, the name also borne by the queen who seized the throne of Judah (2 Kings 11:1). His sons end in verse 27.
