on 1 Chronicles 8:13-27
Beriah and Shema were the heads of families of the inhabitants of Aijalon, and they drove out the inhabitants of Gath. Gill links this to the killing of Ephraim's sons by the natives of Gath in 1 Chronicles 7:21. The roll runs through the sons of Elpaal, Shimei and Shashak.

The closing words mark verses 14 to 16 as the sons of Beriah, Elpaal's son and a chief of Aijalon. Nine sons are named. A Joha also appears among David's mighty men (1 Chronicles 11:45).
