who drove out the inhabitants of Gath
on 1 Chronicles 8:13-27
Beriah and Shema were the heads of families of the inhabitants of Aijalon, and they drove out the inhabitants of Gath. Gill links this to the killing of Ephraim's sons by the natives of Gath in 1 Chronicles 7:21. The roll runs through the sons of Elpaal, Shimei and Shashak.
This site's exposition
Jaareshiah, Elijah, and Zichri
Gill reports a Jewish tradition that this Elijah, a son of Jeroham, was Elijah the prophet, a descendant of Rachel. Scripture calls the prophet Elijah the Tishbite (1 Kings 17:1). The six sons of Jeroham close the list of heads of families in Jerusalem.
