Commentary
9 notes on this verseAnd let them know that this is your hand, and you, O Lord, have made it. What is it that he says, And let them know that this is your hand, and you, O Lord, have made it? Let the Jews understand that they did not prevail against me by their own strength: but my will and your will was done, that I should suffer. And I willed to suffer; therefore I say, according to what I am as man: "My God, I willed to do your will." And your will was also mine, that I should suffer.

Help me, O LORD my God
on Psalms 109:26-29
He asks for help by God's loving devotion. He asks that they know whose hand it is, and though they curse, God will bless; they will be put to shame. Verse 29 asks that the accusers wear shame like a robe, the garment of verse 18 turned on them.

Let them know that this is Your hand
The request looks past the rescue to the accusers' knowing. Isaiah 41:20 gives the same purpose, that all may know the hand of the LORD has done this. The LORD will be seen to have done it.

The Church Fathers1 voice
"Though they curse, yet bless Thou" [Psalm 109:27]. Vain therefore and false is the cursing of the sons of men, that have pleasure in vanity, and seek a lie; but when God blesses, He does what He says. "Let them be confounded that rise up against me." For their imagining that they have some power against Me, is the reason that they rise up against Me; but when I shall have been exalted above the heavens, and My glory shall have commenced spreading over the whole earth, they shall be confounded. "But Your servant shall rejoice:" either on the right hand of the Father, or in His members when they rejoice, both in hope among temptations, and after temptations for evermore.

That they may know that this is thy hand,.... Which inflicted vengeance, and executed judgments on Judas and the Jews, as before imprecated: so the Targum, "that they may know that this is thy stroke;'' or which was concerned in all the sorrows and sufferings of the Messiah, which could never have come upon him had it not been the will of God; it was his hand and council that determined it, or men could never have effected it; see Act 4:28, or which wrought deliverance and salvation as before prayed for; see Psa 118:

That they may know that this is thy hand. Dolts as they are, let the mercy shown to me be so conspicuous that they shall be forced to see the Lord's agency in it. Ungodly men will not see God's hand in anything if they can help it, and when they see good men delivered into their power they become more confirmed than ever in their atheism; but all in good time God will arise and so effectually punish their malice and rescue the object of their spite that they will be compelled to say like the Egyptian magicians, "this is the finger of God." That thou, Lord, hast done it. There will be no mistaking the author of so thorough a vindication, so complete a turning of the tables.
That they may know that this is thy hand - Let thy help be so manifest in my behalf, that they may see it is thy hand, and that thou hast undertaken for me. Or, if the words refer to the passion of our Lord, Let them see that I suffer not on my own account; “for the transgression of my people am I smitten.”

That they may know that this is thy hand - That this has been done by thee; that it has all occurred under thy direction, or has been ordered by thee. The reference seems to be particularly to God’s interposition: “Let it be manifest to all that thou hast interposed in my behalf; that thou hast undertaken for me; that thou art my Friend.” He desired an interposition from God that he might be vindicated before all his enemies. That thou, Lord, hast done it - Let it be such an interposition that it will be manifest to all that no other one but God could have done this.
