Rare words are the text's own signal of a deliberate thread: the fewer the occurrences, the more the places it appears belong together.
Let his days be few. His days were made few, but his nights increased: for he was cut off in the middle of his days. The sun withdrew from him, and behold, darkness was multiplied for him. And let another receive his episcopate. This too is interpreted more plainly in the Acts of the Apostles. But it was not only spoken of Judas in that time, it is spoken even to this day. If Judas lost his apostleship, let priests and bishops guard themselves, lest they too lose their own priesthood.
The last clause is quoted as to Judas by Peter (Ac 1:20). office--literally, "charge," Septuagint, and Peter, "oversight" [1Pe 5:2].
