Leviticus 23:24 names this day but leaves its offerings unnamed, and Numbers supplies them. Verse 6 stacks three offerings on the one day: those given here, the monthly offering of Numbers 28:11-15, and the regular daily offering.

John Calvin reads this rule as a guard against confusion. Had the trumpet offering replaced the new moon offering, God might have seemed to cancel what He had once commanded. Matthew Henry says a special duty never excuses a regular one, as family worship never excuses private prayer.
