If a descendant of Aaron has a skin disease or a discharge

on Leviticus 22:4-9

A priest with a skin disease or a discharge "may not eat the sacred offerings until he is clean". The remedy is water and sunset, and verse 7 gives the reason for his quick return, "for they are his food".

Verse 5 adds a crawling creature and any person whose touch makes a man unclean. John Gill points to 11:31, where touching a dead crawling creature leaves a man unclean until evening, for the limit verse 6 sets. Whatever the uncleanness may be leaves no case outside the rule.

Not a single case is recorded of a leper being restored to communion by the use of water; it served only as an outward and visible sign that such a restoration was to be made.
Creeping things - i. e. dead vermin. Compare Lev 11:29.
